Are you ready for some all-out, highly stylized, turn-based, indie game war? Well, then go download Venture—Diaries From the Battleground, available now on the Xbox Live Marketplace. And while you’re enjoying the game, scan the Microsoft Tags within it to get sweet prizes and extras.

Venture—Diaries From the Battleground is a 2D strategy game produced by the German indie game studio BigBlackBlock exclusively for the Xbox 360. You’ll be duking it out through five different epochs of human warfare—from the Middle Ages to outer space—and you’ll need to be able to strategically attack your enemies or reinforce your defenses to succeed. You can challenge up to three of your friends to battle against you, but if you play through the single player campaign you’ll be able to scan the Tags in the game for some great additional content.

Although Tags have been used in video games before, they haven’t been used quite like this. After garnering some of the trophies that can be earned in the game by completing challenges, you will be awarded a Tag that when scanned will unlock a download for the game’s rich and varied soundtrack. Then, once you earn all of the trophies, new Tags will give you the opportunity to win the game {hi}rollerz (also by BigBlackBlock) if you’re one of the first 50 people to scan the Tags. Each Tag presented in the game is uniquely stylized with an image of one of Venture’s characters that represent the different time periods in the game, whether it’s a caveman, a pirate, a princess, a general or a space alien.

So go download Venture—Diaries From the Battleground, fight the good fight and scan those Tags! And if you can think of any other fun and unique ways to use Tag, let us know in comments below or on Facebook or Twitter.
