The Allure of Tag

It’s no secret that women love clothing, accessories and product—as in makeup, perfume, shampoo and other lotions and potions—however, not necessarily in that order. They love it even more when it’s free, which is why Allure magazine’s Free Stuff Giveaway has been such a success for its August issue.

The contest’s success reached new heights last year thanks to Microsoft Tag, which saw the publication’s entries increase by 38 percent with more than 444,500 Tag scans. So it was a no-brainer for the magazine to rejoin forces with Tag for this year’s giveaway that kicks off today.

Once again, readers can download the Tag app and then scan the Tag in the August issue to register. (To date, more than 25,000 readers pre-registered.) Allure then sends users a text message alert 15 minutes before each giveaway so they can be ready to enter. Readers can flip through the mag and whenever they see Free Stuff goodies they want, scan the Tag on that page.

Plus, beginning today, readers can scan the Tag on the Free Stuff Calendar in the back of the August issue each time a giveaway begins. That Tag lets them enter every single giveaway on the calendar using their smartphone, so if they rip out the page and tuck it in their purse or pocket, they can enter no matter where they are.

Prizes include cosmetics from Vincent Longo and Estee Lauder, fragrances by Dior and Burberry, apparel from DKNY and Armani Exchange, footwear from Blake Brody and Pour La Victoire, and jewelry from Viv & Ingrid and Camille K. And that’s just a mere sampling. In total, Allure will award 25,403 items. Not too shabby a haul.
