Eating out in Seattle just got a bit easier. James Sun, a former contestant on the hit reality TV show “The Apprentice,” is using Microsoft Tag to perfect the art of the deal for his new mobile app, Pirq. Available starting today, Pirq offers limited-time deals through its iPhone app; however, unlike most website-based daily deal purveyors, these offers are location-based and available on-the-go in real time, with no upfront credit card payment or 24-hour waiting period in order to redeem them.
Here’s how it works: Users download the Pirq app, search for the closest deals and then select one that tempts their tummy. To redeem the coupon, they just go right to the restaurant and scan the Tag located at the eatery with their smartphone. Consumers get 20 to 50% off the total when the bill comes. Participating Seattle area restaurants include Sip, 13 Coins, Pegasus Pizza, Cupcake Royale, The Melting Pot and many more.
In addition to teaming up with Tag, Pirq is also one of the first users of Microsoft’s SDK, which integrates Tag into the developer’s application. If you’re interested in the SDK and want further information please click here.
