Turning 30 is not so bad. Just ask the folks at Shape magazine. The publication held a contest to celebrate its 30th anniversary last month and thanks to a successful Tag implementation, close to 400,000 readers entered to win.

The custom Tags (30 in all) were placed throughout the magazine so readers could easily scan them to win one of the almost 1,000 prizes offered. Users only needed to enter their info once to register, but could then enter multiple contests.

Shape partnered with Nellymoser on the implementation and worked with advertisers such as Garnier, Maybelline and Brita to offer prizes that also included products selected by Shape’s editors.

Shape is just one of the magazines that have used Tag to help create successful contests. Others include Allure, Women’s Day, Martha Stewart Weddings and This Old House.
