How mobile tagging helped Overton's and Gander.

For two super-successful examples of what Tag can do for your marketing and product line, take a quick look at what Overton’s and Gander Mountain have been up to lately.

Overton’s – a major water-sports equipment dealer – has filled its 2011 catalog with Tags to help promote their products. Catalog readers are presented with Tags linking to online videos showing off their products at their best, in action. They have also included useful tools such as “how to” instructional videos, including one on how to measure a boat (it’s trickier than you might think).

Gander Mountain, a related company that provides camping, hunting, fishing, and boating equipment, has also included Tags in its recent catalog material.

Gander’s Tags link to product videos on items like Sea to Summit’s The Kitchen Sink (a portable camp sink). The video really shows what the product can do, presenting details about the materials, key features and endorsements, and how to use it in a variety of different situations. The Tag-linked video also gives useful tips on using the product to do dishes away from your water source when camping.

Both companies have made their marketing material more informative and interactive by using Tags, which are designed to draw viewers into the real experience of Gander and Overton’s products, even from the limited media of a catalog. Do you think they succeeded? Got any better ideas? Let us know in the comments below or on Tag’s Facebook or Twitter pages.
