Winter in the Midwest can be dreadfully dreary, so Brothers Bar & Grill decided to liven things up with “Float Away February,” a month-long promotion that encouraged customers to scan Microsoft Tags to win a Carnival cruise and Visa gift card. And who wouldn’t want to escape to someplace warm and sunny?


Brothers placed contest banners, flyers, and posters throughout its 16 restaurants. The posters explained the promotion and prominently displayed a Microsoft Tag. Customers could scan the Tag with their smartphone and enter the contest.


For maximum impact, the Brothers restaurants changed the active Tag each day, encouraging repeat business by giving customers 28 chances visit a Brothers location and enter the contest. Regional manager Mike Horton says the promotion was highly successful, with more than 1,500 customers participating.
