It’s All Fair

I don’t know about you, but I love a county fair (and Tag is a big fan of festivals of all types). The rides that almost make you sick as you scream with laughter, the 4-H shows and the thrill of winning a big stuffed animal are the highlights of my summer. I have to admit; however, the best thing about the fair is the carnival food. I can’t get enough of it. But stuffing your face can make your wallet feel empty. Well, the Puyallup Fair is doing something about that.

The Puyallup Fair (officially known as the Western Washington Fair) is one of the top ten largest fairs in the world, and boy, do they have it all, including some of the best food out there. From September 9th to the 25th, more than 169 acres are packed with all the delights that a fair could offer, and this year, the Puyallup Fair is offering some pretty sweet deals with a little help from Microsoft Tag.

Food vendors at the fair are using Tag to offer discounts, and if you scan the Tags at each of the six vendors, you have a chance to win a 32-inch LCD HDTV or four tickets to the 2011 Apple Cup (for those not in the know, it’s the “Super Bowl” for the two largest universities in Washington—the University of Washington and Washington State).

The Tag coupon food extravaganza is as follows: Mad Greek is offering complimentary fries and a fountain soda if you scan their Tag and buy a gyro. Mongolian Grill will give away a free egg roll and fountain drink if you buy an entrée. Nitro Ice Cream is offering a free two-scoop cup or sundae for free when you buy a three-scoop cup. Sausage Shack will give you a regular Pomme Frit and a fountain soda if you try their Killer Kielbasa. Mo’s Fresh Mex Kitchen is giving away two free fountain sodas when you buy a Super Nacho platter. And to top it all off, Funnel Cake is offering a buy one, get the other at half price.

You might want to run with the bulls at the rodeo to work off all those calories, but the Tag coupons will at least make you fatter in the one place you want to be: Your wallet.
