Golf Digest, the sport’s leading magazine, has been using Microsoft Tag since 2009 to bring its content to life and take reader interaction to a new level. By tagging its editorial, the magazine doesn’t just tell readers how to play golf, it shows them with video lessons, tips, and other content on their smartphones.
For example, when readers scanned a Tag in an article written by teaching professional Butch Harmon, they were treated to a video lesson with Peter Morrice, Golf Digest’s senior editor. A Tag accompanying an interview with Michael Jordan transported readers to a behind-the-scenes video of a photo shoot with the former basketball star and avid golfer.
Tags are now a regular feature, with up to a dozen appearing in each issue in editorial and advertising. Golf Digest has successfully bridged the print and digital worlds for stronger brand recognition and reader engagement.
