The Tag Team hopes you found our delving this week into the topic of mobile engagement… well, engaging. To bring it all full circle, here are two Microsoft Tag implementations that took the extra step to create engagement as well as compelling content for their users.

A Thing of Beauty

As anyone who is into product probably knows, YouTube is filled with some great “how to” videos about techniques for applying makeup. NYX Cosmetics decided to embrace that trend by bringing how to videos directly to their users. NYX recently launched Tags at their retail cosmetics displays in ULTA beauty stores nationwide that resolve to videos featuring beauty gurus demonstrating application tips for various cosmetics.

NYX also did a great job educating their customers about Tag. They made an instructional video on how to download and use the Tag app with a call to action to scan Tags at their displays. You can check it out below.

An Engaging Coupon

I remember my mother’s old Waterpik. It was quite the large contraption. Not anymore. Philips Sonicare has brought the Waterpik (and its other dental care devices) into the 21st century along with embracing mobile marketing. The company is using Tags that resolve to an informational video and have found they are an essential way to sell previously unseen, state-of-the-art technology.

Philips Tagged coupons for their Sonicare products so customers can scan the Tags to see what the product does and then save some money if they decide to purchase it. Props should go to Philips for a nice clear call to action on the coupons. The company is pleased with the results and is now putting Tags on trade show booths and will soon place Tags on product packaging.
