When it comes to advertising, many companies want their brand to be seen as cutting-edge. So when Starmark Inc., an integrated marketing communications agency, was looking for innovative experiences for its clients, Microsoft Tag was just the ticket.
When Starmark pitched a Tag-based campaign to the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention and Visitors Bureau (GFLCVB), it was a perfect fit, as GFLCVB likes using new technology and the primary goal was to drive consumers to its Sunny.org website.
Starmark added Tag to print ads for GFLCVB’s Sunny.org campaign, which provided vacation information and live views of beach destinations to potential visitors. The Tags featured contests, deals for various markets, and special offers for meeting planners. Starmark also created brochures with Tags linking to videos of the Fort Lauderdale resorts.
During another campaign, the GFLCVB distributed tagged posters around Manhattan to draw vacationers to the “Sunshine State.” When the poster Tags were scanned, consumers could view live webcams showing beaches and popular attractions, value offers from hotels, and special deals offered through Club Lauderdale.
“We are always looking for new ways to evolve our tactics and engage customers. Going forward, we hope to take Tags beyond print and into ambient advertising,” says Brett Circe, vice president of interactive services at Starmark.
