Prom: a rite of passage, endless fodder for teen movies and TV episodes, and – according to a 2008 Hearst survey – a night that'll set you back $566. Ouch. With the recession, some teens are making their own dresses or repurposing vintage castoffs...and some are even using duct tape.
Duck Tape, which makes the tape in bright, candy-colored rolls, is challenging teens to craft duct tape creations by June 13 to win cash scholarships. First prize is $5,000, and the top 10 couples all get cash, so get taping, you crazy kids.

Would-be crafters wandering through Staples will see Tags on end displays for Duck Tape, which go to a site with craft ideas, er, "Ducktivities." Because why end the fun at prom?
Would your high school self have made a duct tape prom outfit to win college cash? What do you think of Duck Tape's use of Tag? Did they miss any sticky ideas? Tell us in the comments or on Facebook or Twitter.
