The Anaheim Ducks have taken a shot on goal with an assist from Microsoft Tag. The NHL team has Tagged its season tickets to bring cool offers and fun extras to their fans.

The Ducks first used Tag last season in their game programs. The franchise was pleased with the response, so it decided to put Tags on their season tickets to reward loyal fans with some extra benefits. The Tags resolve to a mobile optimized experience that includes a 15% discount at the Team Store on the day of the game (fans just need to show their phone, no paper required), as well as pre-game access to their favorite players.

Fans can also register for Yahoo! Fantasy Hockey 2011, read a game preview and team lineup, watch videos from the prior day’s game and check-in on Facebook. Who needs to buy a program when you can have all the information you need in your trusty smartphone thanks to Tag?

What other information could sports teams include on a ticket with a little help from Tag? Let us know with your comments below or on Facebook or Twitter.
