Arizona State University has been running a pilot on their campus using NFC technology to replace keycards at their school. Students can use their phones to unlock their dorm rooms and be granted access to different buildings across the campus.
Applying NFC mobile keys to a university setting is just a start of the technology. Instead of the flyer walls students could swipe their phones to get updates on campus activities, bus times, class schedules, and even maps of the campus if you’re new to the University.
Here’s a clip of the technology in action.
