Ever since seeing the movie Goonies when I was a kid, the idea of deciphering clues in search of treasure has been irresistible. It's also a big reason I would have loved have been in Italy a couple weeks ago.

Turin Scavenger Hunt

In an elaborate effort to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the first capitol of Italy, MediaKi.it launched a 3-day scavenger hunt in Turin, Italy from June 30th to July 2nd. In the event, participants scanned a Tag to access an interactive map (as well as a coupon to a local restaurant) to help them navigate the city in search of treasure. People all over the Turin scoured the city scanning customized Tags to learn more about the city's culture, and pick up the next clue along the way. At the conclusion of the event, dozens of prizes were give away including WP7, weekend getaways, and sight seeing tours.

Overall, the event gave residents and visitors a creative way to rediscover the city, and hopefully created some memories along the way. If you're lucky enough to spend time this summer in Italy, make sure to make a visit to Turin and see the custom Tags in action.
