Mobile Banking Mockup

In this day and age, it's hard to believe that you used to have to go to the bank to make transfers. Not only is there online banking, but mobile banking too, from credit unions to big names like Wells Fargo, U.S. Bank, and Bank of America.

Banks could complement their mobile banking and branch services by adding Tags to the back of credit or debit cards. Scanning the Tag could take bank patrons directly to a mobile banking experience where they could check account balances, make transfers, and pay off a credit card. Or it could provide the address of (and directions to) the closest ATM. Tags on credit cards could also be used to give users real-time stock information or remind them of their APR.

There's also an opportunity to integrate mobile tagging with couponing. An Aite survey of mobile banking users "found 38% of mobile banking customers use electronic coupons more than they did two years ago... In a couple of years, when mobile payment is more mainstream, the customer at Best Buy ready to buy a high-definition TV will use his mobile device to determine which card to use, the impact on his account balance, and whether or not there are any coupons or better deals to consider."

Would you scan a Tag on the back of your credit card to pay your bill or find an ATM? Are there other Tag ideas that'd help with your banking? Let us know below or on Facebook or Twitter.
