How Tags Could Improve Airport Visits

San Francisco Airport

From in-flight Wi-Fi to Delta's option to check in for your flight on Facebook, airlines are getting high-tech. Wouldn't it be cool if you could speed up the whole airport process by using mobile tagging?

There are several ways Tag could make air travel easier and faster. A single Tag (potentially in your ticket confirmation email) could link to a mobile site with the option to check in, change your seat, and see if your flight is on time. You could even set up a text alert if your flight's departure time changes.

Or scanning a Tag at your airline's ticket counter could check you in, let you pay any excess baggage charges with your phone, and also give you directions to your gate, listing attractions like coffee shops along the way (and letting you know what your last chance for a latté is). A Tag after security could provide a map of the terminal, highlighting duty-free stores and giving fliers a mobile coupon or discount on the latest Chelsea Handler book. (Over 20 airports have already used Tag with a contest and to promote a loyalty program!)

And not that you use your phone in-flight, of course (ahem) but a Tag on seat backs could let fliers choose the language they wanted to see the safety demonstration video in, or order and pay for one of the in-flight snacks, pre-takeoff. (Yes, liquor counts as a snack.) A Tag at baggage claim could make it easier for fliers to report a missing bag, and enter the address it should be delivered to.

What part of flying would you want to speed up with mobile tagging? Let us know in the comments below or on Tag’s Facebook or Twitter pages.
