How Tag Can Help Mobile Social Usage

Social media has changed the marketing game. As a result, companies are becoming more mindful of the need to increase their mobile marketing presence. In fact, 31% of companies say it’s important to optimize the mobile marketing experience. And with good reason: 44 million mobile users access social networks on a daily basis; mobile social media users have increased to 37% with more than half of these mobile social users reading a post from an organization, brand or event on their mobile device, according to data from ComScore.

Tag can help marketers tap into this ever-growing segment by providing ways to offer promotions, get feedback and engage directly with customers. Here are some ways that Tag can be teamed with social media:


  • Tags on digital content make it easy for shoppers to recommend products to their friends on Facebook and Twitter. They can get fast and fun input from their social network and help spread the word about the product as well as get feedback or reviews from other users.

  • Holland America used Tag in its award-winning mobile initiative to both encourage consumer engagement and social sharing of the cruise line’s mobile content. The scanned Tags went to a mobile site that contained video and interactive content. It also was paired with a desktop version that was delivered through a Facebook page with links to specific shared content.

  • A custom Tag can be created and placed it in a store. The offer can be promoted online, but the only way to actually be able to get the offer is to scan the Tag in-store. When the Tag is scanned with a user’s smartphone, it would then check in the customer on Foursquare or Gowalla and offer them a special discount or other incentive. Because Tag can record device IDs, it could set up with Groupon-like promotions: “If 10 people scan this Tag in the next hour, we’ll give you 10% off your restaurant bill.”

  • For non-profits, Tags make it easy for people to make online donations and then encourage their friends to match by posting a message on Facebook or Twitter. (Nothing like a little competition to get people to open their wallets.)
