The annual Tech•Ed North America conference is a key forum for technical professionals from around the country to learn about the latest Microsoft technologies and products. The Tech•Ed organizers need to make sure attendees have the information about the new solutions, and create an event experience attendees enjoy and want to return to. At the 2011 Tech•Ed conference, the team created digital content and social experiences to showcase the latest and greatest. Attendees then used Microsoft Tag pre-event, onsite and post-event to connect to those experiences in an engaging and highly entertaining way using the digital device most tech pros always have with them all the time – the smartphone.

Tag proved to be an outstanding success at Tech•Ed and its use by attendees far surpassed initial expectation. By the end of the event, 28% of attendees engaged with the Tag content, scanning over 17,000 times, which was 2.5 times greater than the original goal of 7,000 scans. Additionally, the scavenger hunt using Tag generated significant buzz and excitement with attendees, contributing to a positive experience of the 2011 Tech•Ed conference. Incorporating Tag into Tech•Ed led to increased consumption of the content at the conference and more interest and social engagement amongst participants.
