Emart just recently launched a very creative QR Code campaign to increase sales during lunch hours (12pm to 1pm). To kick off "The Sunny Sales" campaign, Emart placed QR Codes all over the city of Seoul. This might not seem very creative compared to other QR Code campaigns but Emart included two key elements making their campaign stand out from the rest.
- The QR Codes that Emart Placed where very visible and had a clear call to action. In addition, the QR Codes were creatively designed so they could only be scanned when the sunlight hit them between the hours of 12pm and 1pm. How did they do this? The QR Codes were actually protruding white boxes and when the sun hit them between 12pm and 1pm the shadow that these boxes created revealed a fully scanable QR Code. A sundial QR Code is the simplest way I can describe how it works.
- Emart incentivised consumers to scan the code by offering a $12 coupon once the code was scanned. These coupons could be redeemed immediately on their mobile device or in store.
