Have you seen those highly customized
Microsoft Tags in the magazines and advertisements? Each week, Patrick Donnelly will be showing some advanced techniques on how to customize
and make Microsoft tags even more beautiful. Today’s tag tip suggests a
way to expand your color palette for your MsTags.

Everyone
loves that MsTags are colorful, however sometimes the CMYK colors
aren’t exactly what you or your client are looking for. In the advanced documentation featured
on tags site, it describes how the HSB color space for Tag allows for
some wiggle room on how each of the colors are picked up by your
smartphone. This level of error correction I assume is to account for
differences in the printing process and camera color detection quality,
but it can also be exploited to shift your colors slightly around the
CMYK range. The picture above shows an example of how you can use this
range to slightly tweak the color palette of your tag to better fit your
graphic identity and company colors. As always, I would encourage you
to TEST scan your altered Tags to make sure they work on multiple
operating systems, and that they work on both screen and in print.
Happy Tagging!
