At Microsoft Tag, we try to provide you with a variety of resources to build your mobile campaign. Sometimes you need a little back up support and guidance to help you out no matter what stage you’re in of your mobile campaign. Tag has the tools to aid you in building your campaign and creating a better experience for users. Keep in mind, we’re always trying to improve on our site and our product, so look out for some improvements in the near future as we continue to grow.
Some Resources
If you scroll over the Resources tab on our website, you’ll find Instructional Guides and an Implementation Guide. Our Instructional Guides are a collection of downloadable PDFs that have in-depth information about:
- Creating Custom Tags
- Using Real-Time Location
- Tracking Scans Using Mobile Device ID
- Using Scans in Contests and Promotions
- Using Tags with Mobile Coupons
- Using Tags at Events
- Rendering Tags in the .tag File Format
The downloadable Tag Implementation Guide is a comprehensive overview of practical requirements and recommendations for creating Tags and Tag campaigns. It covers everything from Dos and Don’ts for producing and displaying Tags to how to display Tags in print, electronic media and other surfaces.
We also provide a host of ideas for Tag campaigns in our IdeaBook section. (They live under the Tag in Action tab on the website.) We provide examples to help inspire your mobile marketing campaign including ideas for contests and promotions, direct mail and social media.
You can also find industry-specific ideas by going under the Tag in Action tab and scrolling to Industries. You’ll find specific campaign ideas for agencies, consumer durable goods, consumer packaged goods, entertainment, publishing, retail and more.
Getting Support
You can find Tag Support at both the top tab on the Tag website (under Resources) or at the bottom of the page under Support. There you’ll find information on Creating and Managing Tags, Downloading the Tag App and Scanning Tags, and Additional Tag Resources such as FAQs, Best Practices and the Microsoft Tag Glossary. There’s also a Get Help section where you can contact Microsoft Tag Support, access the Microsoft Tag Developer Community, Tag Business Support and Microsoft Support.
Know the Code
Not everybody knows what 2D barcodes are. We have a little primer that explains traditional barcodes, QR Codes—do you know what QR stands for? (Quick reference)—and Microsoft Tag. It also breaks out the key differences between Tag and QR so you have all the facts at hand when you’re planning a mobile campaign.
